Ivan Mykytyuk was born in 1948 in the village of Zadubrivtsi, Ivano-Frankivsk region.
He studied at the Lviv State Institute of Applied and Decorative Arts (now Lviv National Academy of Arts, 1973 - 1978). Ivan Mykytyuk is a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine (1988) and an Honored Artist of Ukraine (2001).
He is a professor at the Department of Sculpture of the Lviv National Academy of Arts, participant of numerous exhibitions in Ukraine and abroad. Ivan Mykytyuk is also the author of the monument to Taras Shevchenko in Budapest (2007).
Works of Ivan Mykytyuk are held in museums and private collections in Ukraine and abroad.
